About In Situ Tours

Sustainable travel with a passion for learning

In Situ Tours was founded on the principle that travel is an essential part of a world class education – at any age.

A time of change
Planet earth has undergone radical change due to human activity.

Bearing responsibility
Humans from wealthy societies bear responsibility to live and travel well.

Welcome to the Anthropocene
The degree of human impact has launched us into a new planetary era.

Our commitment to sustainable, responsible travel.

Lasting impact that transforms lives.

We believe

◆ in making careful choices of destinations and travel style, to avoid both over-tourism and under-tourism and to contribute fruitfully to local communities;

◆ in booking travel logistics (air, lodging, activities, and local transport) responsibly to reduce carbon emissions, waste, plastics, and labor inequalities;

◆ in seeking wisdom for how to live better, for people and the planet, before travel, during travel, and after returning home.

Not only destinations and travel suppliers, but travelers themselves take responsibility for their impact on local environments, people, and cultures.

Destinations

Every trip starts with a destination in mind.

From vibrant cities to sleepy rural villages, In Situ explorers reach places often left off traditional maps. Each PLACE provides open possibilities: surprising insights, new friendships, unexpected adventures.
